Colorectal cancer is a leading cause of cancer related deaths in the U.S. & can be prevented if polyps & small growths are identified early.  VIRTUAL COLONOSCOPY allows you to take the preventative steps to self care without the concerns & discomfort of conventional techniques.  This brief study uses a CT scanner - computer virtual reality software- providing three-dimensionL "fly through" of the colon.  With its low dose radiation, its accuracy is similar to conventional colonoscopy.

WHEN IS THE TEST INDICATED?
The American Cancer Society recommends people at risk should begin colorectal cancer or colorectal adenomas which increase risk of developing colorectal cancer.

EASE YOUR STRESS BY KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT!
The virtual colonoscopy procedure is simple & comfortable requiring no sedation.  The patient lies on a scanner table & the colon is gently inflated with air.  A special high-speed Spiral CT Scanner captures cross-sectional images of the abdomen.  The process takes less than 60 seconds while the patient holds their breath.  Then a powerful computer reconstructs a 3D image of the colon that is reveiwed from all angles by the radiologist.
